Hakeem Nicks is a free agent in the professional football sense only.
Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that the former New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has made his most impressive catch in the offseason, hooking up with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Ariel Meredith.
Thebiglead.com reported that Nicks was with Meredith as she appeared at various Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue parties. Meredith appears in the current SI Swimsuit edition and has graced the pages of the magazine's most popular issue in 2009, 2012 and 2013.
The New Jersey Ledger reported that Meredith last month retweeted an announcement that Nicks had joined Jay-Z's Roc Nation as a client in February.
Nicks spent five seasons with the Giants. He had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in New York in 2010 and 2011, but in 2012 had just 53 receptions for 692 yards and three touchdowns and last season had 56 receptions for 896 yards but failed to score.
Fansided.com reported that the Baltimore Ravens are interested in bringing in the soon-to-be free agent.
Neither Nicks nor Meredith have confirmed in any media report how long they've been dating. But SI.com's Andy Gray, a writer at SI.com's Hot Clicks, took a photo of the couple and tweeted it on Feb. 19.
Nicks helped the Giants upset the New England Patriots on Feb. 6, 2011, amid his best years with the Giants. He had 79 catches for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010 and came back with 76 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven TDs in 2011.
