Wade Phillips better Cowboys coach than Jason Garrett? Phillips tweets he has better record in Dallas than Garrett [VIDEO]

Perhaps, Wade Phillips is just trying to boost his ego a little bit after losing his job as the Houston Texans' defensive coordinator.

Dallasnews.com was the first to report that Phillips, the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys who has a lot of spare time on his hands, made an unremarkable discovery. He and Jason Garrett, who replaced Phillips after he was fired midway through the 2010 season, both have the same number of games as coach of the Cowboys.

Or as Phillips described it in a tweet (from @sonofbum): "Jason Garrett is tied with Wade Phillips for 56 games as the @dallascowboys head coach. Phillips: 34 - 22; Garrett: 29 -27. #suprisesMe"

As Dallasnews.com recalled, Phillips was fired after the Cowboys started the 2010 season with a 1-7 record. The team had aspirations of playing the Super Bowl that season, which was being held at Cowboys Stadium.

Dallas was coming off a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, in which the Cowboys ran for a grand total of 39 yards and had four turnovers. That game was on the heels of a 35-17 loss at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Garrett took over and led the Cowboys to a 5-3 finish that season. However, Wade's three full seasons were nine games better than Garrett's three full seasons have been, profootballtalk.nbcsports.com reported.

Dallas had seasons of 13-3, 9-7 and 11-5 prior to 2010. Garrett has been a lot more consistent with three consecutive 8-8 seasons.

Apparently upon learning that his tweet was making the rounds on the internet, Phillips attempted to do some damage control.

He tweeted: "My surprise was that Jason and I had coached the same number of games. Not the record - time passes quickly -I wish Jason & Cowboys well"

Phillips is seasoned enough to know that he can't make comparisons like he did to Garrett on Twitter and not have people respond to the tweet. And if he doesn't know that he shouldn't be making comparisons like that on Twitter, then it's probably wise that the Cowboys made the split.
