Aaron Hernandez murder case: Former NFL star faces assault charges stemming from jailhouse brawl? [VDEO]

Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez is facing assault charges stemming from the jailhouse brawl he had with another inmate earlier this week.

According to CNN, Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson is seeking to have Hernandez charged with assault charges after he reportedly attacked an inmate who was handcuffed at the time and unable to defend himself.

Hodson added he has since filed a criminal complaint application with the Third District Court and a district magistrate will now determine if there is probable cause for criminally charging the former New England Patriots tight end.

The 24-year-old Hernandez remains jailed without bail in the execution-style killing one-time associate Odin Lloyd. Police have since speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because he had information about other violent crimes he's alleged to have been involved it.

According to CNN, authorities have said that Hernandez and two other men picked up Lloyd from his Boston apartment in a rental car shortly before his bullet-riddled body was discovered. The website adds surveillance cameras captured the rental car leaving the crime scene and Hernandez carrying a gun as he returned to his home minutes later.

Hernandez is also a suspect in a 2012 double slaying in Boston that remains unsolved.
