Phil Jackson to accept Knicks offer, join New York front office? [VIDEO]

Phil Jackson is set to accept a front office role with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN.

NBA reporter Chris Broussard tweeted on Monday "all indications are that Phil Jackson will join NYK front office job. Title not clear, but not coach or mere consultant. Broussard also added "the Knicks have a sense of what's going to happen, & as of rt now, looks like Phil's taking job. There's always the possibility of something falling apart at last minute, but the Knicks' sense is that he's joining them."

The Knicks' pursuit of Jackson became public last week when both owner James Dolan and top front office exec Steve Mills traveled to L.A. to meet with the 11-time NBA coaching champion about joining the organization.

Though ESPN reports Jackson immediately let it be known he wasn't interested in coaching, the Knicks persisted in offering him the kind of franchise leadership role Pat Riley has with the two-time defending champs that Jackson has hinted to having an interest in.

After winning 50-plus games last season, the Knicks have struggled to a 24-40 record and a No. 10 seed in the Eastern conference this season. Though the Knicks have rebounded to win their last three games, rumors abound that coach Mike Woodson might not last through the season.
