Russell Wilson baseball career a waste of time; Bo Jackson says Wilson must stick with football only [VIDEO]

Bo knows Russell Wilson's situation.

Former two-sport star Bo Jackson has advice for the Seattle Seahawks quarterback who is dabbling in baseball with the Texas Rangers camp:

Tell baseball to take a hike.

A day after arriving at the Chicago White Sox camp, the 51-year-old Jackson, who played simultaneously in the NFL and Major League Baseball, had some advice for Wilson, Comcast Sports Net Chicago reports. It's the same advice he gives to every kid that attends his Bo Jackson's Elite Sports complex in Lockport Ill.:

"Stick to what got (Wilson) in the headlines, not baseball," Jackson said. "Twenty-five or 30 years ago when I did it, I'm not trying to say anything negative about other athletes, but the talent pool wasn't that deep. In this day in age, with all the high-tech training, computer-engineered workouts and the proper food and diet, if you try to concentrate on two sports, I guarantee you're going to ride the bench in both because the talent is that deep. Stick to whatever sport you're comfortable with and let everything else go."

When Jackson won the Heisman Trophy with the Auburn Tigers in 1984, athletes didn't have to concern themselves with focusing on one sport. Athletes who were able to play multiple sports back then were considered studs.

Now they're considered foolish for not putting all their time and effort into making themselves the best they can be in one sport.

According to Comcast Sports Net Chicago, Jackson scored 16 touchdowns in four seasons with the Oakland Raiders and hit 141 home runs and stole 82 bases during a nine-year baseball career with the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and California Angels.

He says, however, he wouldn't be good enough in either sport to play in both professionally if he were playing today.

"I probably couldn't, no," Jackson said. "Just because the talent pool is that deep now. If my kids want to do both sports - 'No. No. No.' ... If you try to do both you're going to be riding the bench in both. You'll never get to that level that you want to get to if you split your time between multiple sports."

Especially if Wilson needs to study defenses to stay ahead of them in the NFL.
