Today at 2:10 p.m. ET, No. 12 Harvard (26-4, 13-1 Ivy) and No.5 Cincinnati (27-6, 15-3 AAC) tipoff live from the Spokane Arena in Washington for Round 2 action in the NCAA March Madness tournament as part of the Eastern bracket. The game can be live streamed for free here and also viewed on TNT. Harvard fans can hear all of the action on WHRB 95.3 while Cincinnati fans can do the same on 700 WLW.
Harvard won its third straight Ivy League title this season while Cincinnati earned a share of the American Athletic regular-season title thanks in large part to leading scorer Sean Kilpatrick, who was one of the top scorers in the country.
With Harvard gaining a lot of the attention, Cincinnati is used to being forgotten about, and it appears as though they'll use it as motivation.
"It's nothing new. We're used to it. We're so used to being counted out throughout the regular season that now it's second nature," Kilpatrick said via ESPN. "We don't take it [any] type of way. That's their opinions. We just focus on what matters with us."
What matters now is a meeting with Tommy Amaker's Harvard club, a team that Amaker took over with hopes of making the basketball team finally live up to the Harvard name.
"We're very hopeful that has happened," Amaker told ESPN about making the basketball club a legitimate contender.
Amaker's squad will have their hands full with Kilpatrick, who averaged 20.7 points per game this season and is second all-time on the Bearcats in scoring.
"He's a ball player. When it gets down to it he's going to it, he's going to do what it takes to win the game," Cincinnati teammate Justin Jackson said, according to ESPN.
Kilpatrick is lauded by his teammates, not only for what he does on the court with his game but for the leadership role he has taken on.
"I think the most improved part of his game is his leadership," Cincinnati forward Titus Rubles told ESPN. "Last year he got buckets, of course, but he was a little more silent. But this year he's more of a leader and he takes a leadership role. When we get down, he keeps people composed."
Harvard has been able to spread the ball around this season as eight different players have led Harvard in scoring in at least one game this campaign while Wesley Saunders was the Ivy League player of the year.
President Barack Obama selected the Crimson to upset Cincinnati today.
"That's pretty cool that he picked us," Harvard's Laurent Rivard told ESPN. "He probably took notice last year. He probably didn't pick us last year."
