Ichiro Suzuki trade rumors [VIDEO]: Yankees are willing to pay part of OF's salary if deal makes sense

After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008, the New York Yankees revamped their roster by making several moves, which in turn, has made Ichiro Suzuki expendable. The Bronx Bombers could be looking to deal the outfielder and take on some of the salary if they find the right deal.

According to CBS Sports, the Yankees would be willing to offset a part of Ichiro's $6.5 million salary in the right deal. The Yankees are hoping to receive a quality prospect in a deal and the team would be willing to take on some of Ichiro's salary should an offer woo them.

Ichiro, 40, became expendable now that the Yankees have brought in Carlos Beltran and Jacoby Ellsbury through free agency into an outfield that already included Alfonso Soriano and Brett Gardner, one of which will be the designated hitter.

CBS Sports reports that Yankees general manager Brian Cashman declined to speak on the subject of trading Ichiro and nothing appears to be close involving a deal for the Japanese outfielder.

Cashman also expressed no concern over Ichiro getting a limited role as a fourth outfielder after spending his entire career as an every-day player, over the course of a career that was spent mostly in Seattle.

"He's a great defender and he can steal a base," Cashman said about Ichiro per CBS Sports. "He provides us with options."

Ichiro hit 262 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 2013 through 150 games with the Bronx Bombers, however he'll likely play in less games this season or suit up for a different team.

Ichiro is a career .319 hitter with 111 homers and 695 RBI.
