Darrelle Revis from Jets Unhappy With Trade Rumors and Wants Answers

Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis, widely considered the top corner in the NFL, is unhappy with trade rumors that began to swirl on the first day of new Jets general manager John Idzik's tenure.

Revis, who has held out twice since being drafted in the first round in 2007 and is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the third week of the 2012 season, is believed to be seeking a long-term deal worth up to $60 million according to a Yahoo! Report. Revis was upset to hear of the trade rumors through the media, rather than having the front office communicate their plans to him. In an interview with Andrea Kremer Revis said, "I was speechless; I was speechless because I didn't get a phone call," Revis said of the rampant trade rumors that coincided with Idzik's hire. "I know it's a business - just call me; don't have it lingering out there. I need answers and I'm not getting [any]. Just the fact that that was put out there instead of contacting your best player on the team. If that's how you want to do business, then that's fine."

In the Yahoo! Story Revis implies that Jets owner Woody Johnson is the man behind the trade rumors, but that his relationship with head coach Rex Ryan is still good and that he believes Ryan would prefer Revis remain in green and white.

In 2010 Revis signed a four-year $46 million contract that included $32.5 million guaranteed. It also stipulated that he can not be designated with the franchise tag, which is a one-year option that pays the tagged player an average of the top five salaries at the position.

Due to the Jets salary cap problems, their other large contracts, uncertainty at the quarterback position, and questions about Revis' surgically repaired knee it seems unlikely that the best corner in the league will remain a Jet for long.
