LeBron James amazed, envious of Miguel Cabrera’s $292 million contract [VIDEO]

Miami Heat superstar LeBron James admits he is a bit jealous of Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera's newly-signed contract worth $292 million that will run over the next decade.

Speaking to ESPN.com before the Heat met the Pistons on Friday night, James said: "I said 'wow.' I wish we (the NBA) didn't have a salary cap."

The four-time NBA MVP is earning $19 million this year with the Heat. He has the same salary as that of teammate Chris Bosh. While James is earning a pretty hefty sum, his salary is nowhere close to that of Cabrera. However, it is common knowledge that there is no salary cap in Major League Baseball. In the NBA, players with as many years of playing like James are prohibited from earning more than 35 percent of their teams' $58 million salary cap.

James, though, suggested that Cabrera is worthy of his new contract. "He's the best player in baseball, and the best players in each sport should be rewarded. It'd be nice to sign a 10-year deal worth $300 million."

James can opt out of his contract this summer, a stipulation in his contact that he signed in 2010 after leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers. He said he would like to opt out if he can land a deal similar to that of Cabrera.

"I would do it this summer for sure," James admitted. "I'd opt out for that."

While James' salary pales in comparison to baseball players, he makes a killing out of his endorsements. Nike pays him $19 million a year, which nearly makes up half of his $40 million a year earnings from endorsements.
