Serena Williams invincible? Serena wakes up at end of first set to rout Li Na, win seventh Sony Open, prove dominance [VIDEO]

The rest of the players in the WTA better hope that Serena has a recurring back injury or has an arm fall off or something.

Saturday, she proved that she's untouchable when she's on top of her game.

After a slow start, Williams overwhelmed world's No. 2 Li Na 7-5, 6-1 to win the Sony Open for the seventh time.

According to multiple media reports, Li was the player who opened brilliantly, storming to a double-break, 5-2 lead in the first set.

"She started out so well," Williams said, according to tennis.si.com. "I thought, 'Oh, my gosh, if I can just hang in there.' Then I heard some fans trying to pull me through.... At that moment, I felt like I had nothing to lose. I was able to relax. And whenever I relax, I enjoy myself."

And opponents crumble.

Williams won 11 of the next 12 games to show the distance between her game and her closest competition, according to the rankings.

"Is not wrong," Li said, frowning, according to ESPN.com. "I don't think I was playing bad. Maybe she just start a little bit better after 5-2 down.

"I mean, really nothing to say. I think it was a pretty good match. I don't think today I was doing like a wrong game plan or I was playing totally wrong. Yeah, that's what I think."

Williams improved to 11-1 against Li, according to tennis.si.com. She is 16-2 against Maria Sharapova and has won 15 consecutive matches against top-10 foes. She joined Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert as the only seven-time winners in the event.

"When you wake the sleeping giant, you're in big trouble," Sascha Bajin, Williams's longtime hitting partner who was sitting courtside next to her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, told the New York TImes. "Something has to happen for her in order to wake up. Whether it's the crowd that wakes her up, whether it's the switch she flips, whatever it is, she manages somehow always to turn it around. That's why she's one of the greats, and I don't think this can be taught. It's just a gift, and we're all in our team so happy and blessed she has it."
