Clowney is seen by many as the top prospect in the draft and would have been a bigger favorite to go number one if he was eligible in 2013. Clowney is drawing comparisons to the legendary Reggie White, but he looks more like a Julius Peppers type of 4-3 defensive end. He brings a rare skill set of power and finesse, with the unrivaled ability to deliver a hit while still being agile enough to get to the quarterback.
The negatives on Clowney however has always been his work ethic. Will he still be the dominant force he is projected to be once he gets his first check in hand? Clowney answered some of those questions with an impressive, but not groundbreaking combine performance. Overall, for a player that is being compared to some of the legends of the game, Clowney is handling the press and pressure very well. He speaks and handles himself in a very professional and adult matter.
Clowney has a chance to show off his skill set for the final time in public today in his Pro Day. After this workout he will only be allowed to workout privately for the teams that ask for his presence. This is a very high profile draft day with Clowney’s Pro Day and the Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater traveling to workout for the Patriots.
