2006 BCS championship game curse: Vince Young counterpart Matt Leinart selling newspapers in California? [VIDEO]

The curse of the 2006 BCS title game continues.

First, former Texas Longhorns and NFL quarterback Vince Young filed for bankruptcy. Now, Lostletterman.com has discovered a photo of former USC and NFL quarterback Matt Leinart selling newspapers in California.

Leinart is on an advertisement for the Orange County Register, holding a newspaper like a football next to the word, "Leadership."

Leinart spent six seasons in the NFL after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2004, returning for his senior season in 2005 and getting selected 11th by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2006 draft.

He started 11 games and played in 12 as a rookie, throwing for 2,547 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Little did anyone know that would be the pinnacle of his professional career.

The Cardinals brought in veteran Kurt Warner to mentor Leinart, but instead Warner took his job early in the 2007 season and led the Cardinals to an appearance in Super Bowl XLIII.

After starting five games in 2007, Leinart only had two more starts the rest of his career. After four years with the Cardinals, Leinart was out of football in 2010. He made a comeback in 2011 and served as a backup for the Houston Texans in 2011, then served as a backup with the Oakland Raiders in 2012 and was cut by the Buffalo Bills during the 2013 preseason.

CBSSports.com reported that Leinart originally signed a $50.8 million deal with the Cardinals and had $14 million guaranteed, so he may not be in the same boat as Young, who reportedly also had a $50 million contract with the Titans as the No. 3 pick in the draft.

Reports of Young's reckless spending have been well-documented.

It appears Leinart hasn't sunken that low, but it seems incredible that the two quarterbacks associated with arguably the greatest BCS title game in history are two of the biggest flops in the NFL.
