Paulie Malignaggi next fight: Shawn Porter 'pretty basic', Magic Man defends Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana [VIDEO]

Paulie Malignaggi is probably best known these days as the chatterbox on Showtime Boxing's commentary team, but his career as the "Magic Man" in the ring is far from over. In 2013 he fought twice, losing a shockingly close decision against Adrien Broner, then putting on a clinic against Zab Judah. He's set to take on up-and-comer Shawn Porter this Saturday, but of course had plenty to say about other fights as well.

Shawn Porter vs. Keith Thurman next if "Showtime" beats Paulie?

While his promotion for the Porter fight has been very tame compared to the antics involved in the past, Paulie wasn't shy about warning the younger opponent about thinking he's weak.

"People talk about...and I've heard [Porter] talk about how he's going to do the same thing to me that he did to Alexander and that he's going to come forward. If his only game plan is to walk through me, then he's going to have a lot of problems," Malignaggi said.

"I think that everybody's game plan is to walk through me. They say that I can't punch and they just come in assuming that I'm not strong and that I'm not a big puncher and that they're going to come right through me. But then, when you get into the fight, it's a whole different animal in front of you."

Malignaggi has made a name for himself as a commentator for quickly catching trends during fights, so his next comments about Porter could be alarming for the youngster. "What I've seen from Shawn Porter, he's pretty basic.

"He's got some power but there's no intangibles. The intangibles are that he's got a lot of heart and he's good and you can't teach that. But as far as physical talent, there's not a lot there that I can see."

Paulie's also been discussing Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s upcoming fight with brawler Marcos Maidana, defending the selection made by the "Money Team."

Miguel Cotto picks Floyd to beat Maidana easily

"There's always going to be guys in boxing like Floyd Mayweather Jr. who are going to have a tough time finding a suitable challenger," Paulie said. "No matter who he chooses as an opponent, there will always be people complaining that this is not the guy they want to see against Floyd. But in reality, if Marcos Maidana were fighting anybody else in the welterweight division, those same people would be saying that it was a tough fight."
