Through all the injury and heartache, Chicago Bulls GM Gar Forman still considers star guard Derrick Rose a lucky man.
Forman assured ESPN the youngest MVP in NBA history is "making great progress" from a torn meniscus in his right knee and the team expects him to return at "100 percent" come next season.
"We were very lucky that the meniscus could be repaired," Forman added. "Because it was able to be repaired, he'll have great stability in that knee and it will take away the chances that it becomes arthritic towards the end of his career. Let's face it, he's still only 25. He's still got 10, 12, 15 years ahead in his career... There's been no setbacks."
While Forman stressed Rose is still not expected to return to the Bulls at any point this season, the team is hopeful that he'll be able to get a headstart on facing NBA level competition this summer.

With Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau serving as one of the assistants to Mike Krzyzewski, Rose has been extended an invitation to compete for one of the spots on the Team USA squad that will compete at the World Cup this summer in Spain.
After missing all of the 2012-13 season, Rose appeared in just 10 games this season before suffering his latest injury. He averaged 15.9 points and 4.3 assists.
