Brock Lesnar breaks THE STREAK at WrestleMania 30; Why 'The Beast' was wrong man for the job of beating Undertaker

It has been more than two weeks since Brock Lesnar broke THE STREAK at WWE WrestleMania 30 and yet all everyone still wants to talk about is how The Undertaker lost to Lesnar in New Orleans on that fateful night. The burning question remains, "Why was Brock Lesnar chosen to end THE STREAK?" And, for those like me who are still shocked by such a decision, "Who should have broken THE STREAK instead?"

The first question to address here is why Brock Lesnar was chosen to break THE STREAK and pin The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. After two weeks of serious contemplation on the subject, there are two reasons why this probably happened.

First and foremost, TIMING. The Undertaker is not getting any younger and perhaps all of the injuries over the years have finally caught up with The Phenom to the point where no matter who Undertaker was facing at WrestleMania 30, he would have HAD to lose.

No women allowed at WWE live event in Saudi Arabia?

The Undertaker strikes me as one of those old school wrestlers with the mentality that at some point the torch must be passed to the next generation, and if his body is truly beat up and finally spent, I am sure having Brock Lesnar end THE STREAK now was a way for him to make sure that at the very least, someone could benefit from the 21 years of buildup.

The second reason I think THE STREAK ended at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 is PAUL HEYMAN. The fact that Heyman is one of the best managers of all-time and is also an incredible mouthpiece for Brock Lesnar means that not only was The Undertaker passing the torch to Lesnar, but he was also giving the rub to someone in Heyman who will not waste it.

Case and point, the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 30, where Heyman's gloating was simply epic, as always:

And with Cesaro now being minted as the latest Paul Heyman Guy on that same episode of Raw, Paul Heyman's credibility is now more solid than ever because of his hand in being THE ONE in 21 and 1.

Forget Hulk Hogan and Sting to WWE; TNA signs some wrestlers to new contracts, could TNA cuts go to GFW?

As for the second question relating to who else should have broken THE STREAK instead of Brock Lesnar, like many others I would have liked to see a full-time WWE wrestler get the nod. Names that come to mind immediately are Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan, but this year was Bryan's year to win the World Heavyweight Championship as he should have, Bray Wyatt was one year away from really being ready for such a task, and my personal favorite Reigns hadn't completely broken off from The Shield just yet and the storyline may have been rushed.

At the end of the day, The Undertaker's Streak at WrestleMania will still live on as one of the greatest accomplishments in WWE history. Brock Lesnar may not have been the obvious pick, but he certainly has been a controversial choice to say the least.

And in an era where WWE hasn't been able to shock us all that much, this was a true surprise that made everyone's jaws drop when it happened at WrestleMania 30, so kudos to them for that.
