Keyshawn Johnson arrested for alleged domestic violence; Johnson's ESPN future up in the air? [VIDEO]

According to TMZ Sports, former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was arrested Monday morning on an alleged domestic violence charge. Johnson’s made $20,000 bail and was set free today.

According to the police reports in the area, Johnson had a dispute with his ex-girlfriend when things turned violent. Johnson allegedly smashed the woman’s phone causing a gash on her hand, which prompted her to call the police.

Reports are that the argument was about marriage, but nothing can be confirmed at this point in the investigation. TMZ reports that Johnson was formally arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery, but CBS Los Angeles reports Johnson was charged with misdemeanor spousal battery.

An ESPN spokesperson said that ESPN is aware of the situation and is looking into the matter further before they comment on the incident. Johnson is the latest former football player to be involved in some jail time, as former quarterback Donovan McNabb served a one-day jail sentence earlier this month from a DUI charge from December 2013.

Johnson’s status with ESPN is up in the air and will likely be resolved before the start of the NFL season. In an ironic twist, Johnson is now the focal point of police activity in his neighborhood months after calling out pop star Justin Bieber for his own antics.
