Notre Dame football news: Fighting Irish stacked at receiver, Torii Hunter son among top scholarship athletes this spring? [VIDEO]

While the Notre Dame Fighting Irish decide who will be playing quarterback for them this year, they also have to find out what to do with the logjam at wide receiver. With the likes of Torii Hunter Jr., Corey Robinson, Justin Brent and the eventual return of DaVaris Daniels, the Irish have their hands full.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator, Mike Denbrock, took the opportunity to speak highly of Hunter Jr. and of the young talent in general.

"He is absolutely physically very gifted, and right in the mix with all those young guys as far as what we feel like he can do potentially down the road. Like a lot of young guys, the more he sees things, the more he does things, the better he's going to be. He's not where we need him to be yet but you can see so many positive things that are going to happen there moving forward. We're just trying to speed up the process as fast as we can."

The Fighting Irish will do exactly that over the summer, as they have seven scholarship players on the roster, and finding ample playing time for all of them will be a high priority for not only 2014, but beyond. Denbrock said that the Notre Dame offense will be the main beneficiary of the heated competition and sited how many players he can see vying for playing time.

"We got a very competitive situation with Robinson, Daniels, Fuller, Brown, Carlisle. We've got a nice situation there. I think it's a just competitive situation. We've got to get the best players on the field, because the tight end is going to be on the field as well.” Denbrock continued. “I’m not settled on any one of those guys right now. I think it will be a very competitive situation. I think they are going to push each other and we're going to be the beneficiary. Notre Dame's offense is beginning to be the beneficiary.”

No matter who ends up playing quarterback for the Irish this year, it looks like they will have plenty of targets and every chance to succeed going forward.
