Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Royals (10-11) and Baltimore Orioles (11-10) take the field at Camden Yards for the first of a three-game series live from Baltimore. The Royals start the final series of their seven-game road trip after losing three of four from the Cleveland Indians while the Orioles kick off a brief five-game homestand after a 5-3 road trip through Boston and Toronto.
Yordano Ventura (1-1, 2.65 ERA) takes the hill for Kansas City while Baltimore counters with Ubaldo Jimenez (0-3 6.75 ERA).
Ventura, a rookie who can dial it up to 102 mph at times, has some control issues he's dealt with, especially in his last start when he lasted only four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks in an 8-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday..
"He usually contains it for the most part," manager Ned Yost said via MLB.com. "His first couple starts, he didn't do it much. He'll do it on occasion; he just did it a lot more on his last start. But, again, that's going to be his issue."
He'll be opposed by Orioles offseason acquisition Jimenez, who gave up three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Boston Red Sox last time out and is looking for his first win of the season.
The Royals will hope to get their home run swings going at Camden Yards while Eric Hosmer will look to continue his success against Jimenez, a pitcher that he is hitting a lifetime .364 off of with two homers and six RBIs.
Orioles outfielder Nelson Cruz will look to continue to rake as he ranks third in the majors with 23 RBIs and has a .312 average along with six homers.
The Royals and Orioles take the field at Camden Yards to kick off their three-game series tonight in Baltimore.
