NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has not been at his post for very long, but now he has an opportunity to put his stamp on the league for the first time. Donald Sterling was allegedly caught on tape saying racist comments toward African Americans and ever since there has been an outcry for the NBA to take action in the form of resignation.
Silver has announced that this press conference is not an update on the situation and he has actual news to report on the leagues findings. Many believe the league will bring the hammer down on Sterling, who has been accused of being a racist on many occasions during the David Stern era.
The league has not acted on these accusations yet, but teams around the league have voiced their opinions on the matter. Teams such as the Miami Heat and Sterling’s Clippers have even formed silent protests in the form of turning their warmup uniforms inside out to hide the teams logo.
According to sources, Magic Johnson has officially expressed interest in buying the Clippers from Sterling in light of these acts.
The official press releasee from the NBA league office is as follows:
"The NBA will hold a press conference tomorrow [Tuesday] to make an announcement about its investigation involving Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Additional details will be announced.”
