Donald Sterling Banned For Life: Floyd Mayweather Comes to Sterling Defense: 'He Always Invited Me To Sit Next to Him' [VIDEO]

The first Donald Sterling defender has stepped forward, and his name is Floyd Mayweather.

Magic Johnson is not interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers

USA TODAY Sports reported Tuesday night that the world's best pound-for-pound boxer became the first supporter of the now-banned-for-life Los Angeles Clippers owner. Mayweather also is willing to be the one to give Sterling lots of money for ownership of the team.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday announced that the league verified that it was Sterling's voice on an audio that TMZ released publicly over the weekend that was full of racist remarks. Silver banned Sterling for life, pushed for the NBA owners to vote in favor of removing Sterling as an owner and levied a $2.5 million fine.

But Mayweather said he sees a different side of Sterling and is not sway by the comments Sterling made to his former girlfriend, V. Stiviano, USA TODAY Sports reported.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says outrage about Donald Sterling misplaced

"I don't have nothing negative to say about the guy," Mayweather said. "He's always treated me with the utmost respect; he has always invited me to games, always. And he always says, 'Floyd, I want you to sit right next to me and my wife.' "

Mayweather's comments are in stark contrast to the comments aired publicly by TMZ and Deadspin.com, in which Sterling tells Stiviano not to post pictures of her with black people on her Instagram account or bring black people to Clippers games.

Mayweather added that he and other investors want to buy the Clippers from Sterling, after Silver basically said the NBA doesn't want Sterling as a team owner any longer, USA TODAY Sports reported.

"I can't come in here talking about Mayweather only going to get 3% or 4%," Mayweather, a huge Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers fan, said at the MGM Grand. "I got to get a solid percentage.

"But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We're very, very interested in buying the Clippers."
