Today at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks faceoff for Game 2 of their best-of-seven Round 2 series live from the United Center in Chicago as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Minnesota looks to bounce back from a Game 1 loss and tie up the series before the team gets back to home ice while Chicago looks to take a 2-0 series lead with it into the Xcel Energy Center. The Blackhawks topped the Wild 5-2 in Game 1.
While the score was lopsided, Game 1 was a closer affair than it appeared to be in the final box score. Still, Wild head coach Mike Yeo wasn't fully happy with his team's performance.
"When I watched the game again, and I watched it carefully, we played a good game last game but we didn't play a great game," Yeo told NHL.com. "The little things that were missing there was just a very small dip in some of the little things."
Despite winning 5-2 in Game 1, the Blackhawks were sloppy in the second period and allowed the Wild to tie the game at two goals apiece. Chicago wasn't fully happy with its effort.
"I think we almost fed them that confidence that they could win that game with our own sloppy play," captain Jonathan Toews said per NHL.com. "We weren't happy with the way we played. We made a lot of mistakes that were unnecessary."
Chicago was lifted by Patrick Kane (two goals) Bryan Bickell (two goals) and Marian Hossa (one goal, one assist) in Game 1.
Kane has a team-high five tallies in the playoffs and has added three helpers for eight points while Toews also has eight points by finding the twine three times and adding five assists and Brent Seabrook (two goals, six assists) also has eight points.
Clayton Stoner and Kyle Brodziak tallied for the Wild in Game 1. Zach Parise picked up an assist in Friday's game and leads the team and is second overall in the playoffs with 11 points off of three goals and eight assists while Brodziak (3-3--6) is one of four Minnesota players with six points along with Jason Pominville, Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley, who each have lit the lamp once and added five helpers.
Ilya Bryzgalov filled in between the pipes for Minnesota in Game 1 as Darcy Kuemper (undisclosed injury) was sidelined. Bryzgalov allowed four goals while stopping 17 shots to bring his playoff record to 1-3 with a 4.16 goals-against average and a .821 save percentage.
Corey Crawford will man the crease for Chicago after yielding two goals and turning aside 30 shots to lift his record to 5-2 this postseason with a 1.92 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
The Wild and Blackhawks take the ice at the United Center in Chicago for Game 2 of their Round 2 series.
