Tennessee Keeps Tourney Hopes Alive

The Tennessee Volunteers kept their March Madness dream alive with an 82-75 conference win against Auburn on Wednesday. Tennessee improves their SEC record to 10-7, just one win less than Kentucky, Ole Miss, Alabama, and the team's final regular season opponent, Missouri.

Jordan McRae had another outstanding performance to add to his SEC Player of the Year campaign grabbing nine rebounds and tying for a game-high 21 points with teammate Trae Golden. Golden was also a key factor to the Vols win, adding six assists to his impressive scoring effort. The junior point guard was perfect from the free throw line, making all seven of his attempts in the win over Auburn.

Both guards were key in the clutch as Tennessee pulled away in the second half. Golden scored 16 of his points after halftime, while McRae scored 15. The Vols scored eight straight points after falling behind 44-38 early in the second half and seemed to control momentum for the remainder of the game.

Tennessee will host Missouri at Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday before heading to Nashville for the SEC Tournament, beginning March 13th.
