Los Angeles Lakers Rumors [VIDEO]: Kevin Ollie Denies Meeting With Team, 'Don't Believe Everything You Hear'

The Los Angeles Lakers had a very forgettable season in 2013-14, and following the resignation of head coach Mike D'Antoni, rumors have swirled that UConn head coach Kevin Ollie or Kentucky coach John Calipari could fill the void, but Ollie denied setting up a meeting with Lakers brass about the vacancy.

It was reported that Ollie, who brought the Huskies to a 2014 National Championship in an NCAA tournament win, took to his official Twitter account on Tuesday to dispel any rumors that he will soon meet with Lakers brass over the head coaching vacancy in Los Angeles.

D'Antoni resigned after the team decided that it would bring him back for the 2014-15 season but wouldn't commit to picking up his option for the following year. Not wanting to be a lame duck coach and to go through the same questions he went through this year about his job status if the Lakers struggled early next season, D'Antoni opted to leave the Lakers sidelines.

Ollie and Calipari have been popular names to fill the void for Los Angeles, but Ollie said on Twitter he had nothing in place to meet with the Lakers:

Los Angeles dealt with an injury-riddled season in 2013-14 en route to missing the playoffs for the first time since 2005 and suffering through their worst record in franchise history as the team finished 27-55 in what proved to be D'Antoni's final season as head coach.

The team was willing to give D'Antoni another year with a healthy roster to prove his worth next season as the team plans on being active in free agency and through the draft, however D'Antoni opted to leave rather than face the constant questions of his job status for another season.

It remains to be seen who the Lakers end up choosing to fill the void for them on the sidelines, but Ollie is not planning on meeting with the team.
