Jim Ross, Shawn Michaels Podcast Recap: CM Punk Leaves WWE, Brock Lesnar Ends THE STREAK, More [VIDEO]

On this week's must-listen Jim Ross podcast, Good Ol' JR had part 1 of an in-depth interview with the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. During the interview, HBK talked about Brock Lesnar ending The Undertaker's Streak at WrestleMania 30, CM Punk leaving WWE, JBL and Michael Cole as announcers, and much more. Below is my recap and highlights of the Jim Ross Report Shawn Michaels podcast interview:

Shawn Michaels and Jim Ross on JBL and Michael Cole:

When discussing JBL and Michael Cole, Jim Ross and Shawn Michaels said that in real-life JBL is an amazing person and any comments that he makes as a heel announcer should be taken with a grain of salt. Jim Ross agreed and said that with all of the Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole talk over the years, it's really just a case of announcing styles and times being different now than when Ross was broadcasting weekly.

Shawn Michaels and Jim Ross on WWE TV Ratings and HBK's Wrestling Career:

Ross and and Michaels then talked about how WWE TV ratings can affect he overall presentation of the WWE product. Michaels then said he never really focused on quarter-hour ratings or anything like that, but instead he just wanted to put on great wrestling matches first and foremost.

JR then said that Shawn Michaels was the greatest wrestler of all-time for being able to put everything together interms of psychology, athleticism, and overall performance ability.

HBK when talked about his faith and said that all he worries about now in retirement is being a good father, husband, and friend .

Jim Ross and Shawn Michaels on The End of The Undertaker's Streak by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30:

Jim Ross still couldn't fathom that THE STREAK ended, and Michaels then said the decision was made about four hours before the show aired. At the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on the night before WrestleMania 30, JR said he spoke to Taker and The Phenom said he wasn't sure how many WrestleManias he had left.

Michaels said that even if this was The Undertaker's last WrestleMania, he "would have liked to see Undertaker undefeated and retire." HBK said he has no idea if Taker wrestled his last match.

Maria Kanellis on Bella Twins Feud, CM Punk, Triple H, More

Ross said that he was blessed to call the WrestleMania 25 match between Taker and HBK, and they both say that it was as close to the perfect match as you could get.

While Ross was upset he didn't get to call HBK's retirement match one year later at WrestleMania 26, the fact that Taker, Ross and Michaels all hung out together after the match until 6 in the morning was something he'll never forget.

Shawn Michaels then said that "Mark and I got closer over the years" and "I live on those memories and that time" he had with everyone in his career rather than look back and watch at his old matches.

Jim Ross and Shawn Michaels on "CM Punk Leaves WWE" saga:

JR asks if HBK can understand CM Punk's plight and why he left WWE. HBK says "if you're really connected to the gig, money's not enough to keep you there."

Michaels said he has no idea why Punk left, but speculates that Punk was unhappy and he didn't seem like the type of person who will do the job if he doesn't truly enjoy it.
