The two teams have traded victories by wide margins, with Oklahoma City avenging a Game 1 slaughter with a near historic performance between Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, who were one KD dime shy of becoming the first teammates to record triple-doubles in the same game.
Still, OKC coach Scott Brooks wants more from his club. "We have to take that and then add to that," Brooks said. "You can't be satisfied. The intensity as the series goes along improves and it becomes greater, and we have to make the next jump."
The Thunder's masterful rebound performance was equal parts offensive brilliance from its stars and defensive tenacity. They contained the 3-point shooting of Los Angeles in Game 2, holding the Clips as a team to 33.3 shooting from beyond the arc. In Game 1, Chris Paul began the night 8-for-8 from deep, and the team knocked down 51.7 percent of its treys.
The Clippers must also deal with renewed controversy regarding the team's ownership, with Donald Sterling's wife throwing her hat into the ring. Clips coach Doc Rivers squashed any thoughts of the team being further distracted by the higher-ups.
"We need to be uneasy about Westbrook and Durant," he said. "That's who we need to be really uneasy about because they're putting more pressure on us right now."
