Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET, the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks take the ice at the Honda Center in Anaheim for Game 5 of their Round 2 best-of-seven series as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Los Angeles looks to win at the Honda Center for the third time this series while Anaheim aims to become the first home team to win a game this series and to take a 3-2 lead back to Los Angeles with it. The Kings took Games 1 and 2 on the road while the Ducks got into this series away from their home rink as well by notching victories in Games 3 and 4.
The Kings are looking to bounce back from a tough shutout loss to rookie goaltender John Gibson, who made his NHL postseason debut in Game 4.
"We need to do more to get to him, obviously," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty told NHL.com. "We gave him too many easy shots, and we didn't crash the net and get people in front of him. He played good, but we've got to do a better job."
Gibson will likely start again tonight after making 28 saves in the shutout. He'll be opposed by Jonathan Quick, who is 6-5 this postseason with a 2.83 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
Doughty is tied for second on the Kings in these playoffs with eight points off of a goal and seven assists while Jeff Carter also has eight points off of three tallies and five helpers. Anze Kopitar paces the team with 15 points this postseason off of four goals and 11 assists while Marian Gaborik has found the twine six times and added four helpers for 10 points.
All four games have been decided by just one or two goals, so the Ducks were confident that they'd be able to bounce back from a 2-0 series hole to tie things up due to the fact that it's been a tight series.
"For some reason, there was just a calm sense in the room," defenseman Cam Fowler said of his team's approach per NHL.com. "We felt confident that we could come back. That's something that we strive for."
Ryan Getzlaf has led the Ducks this postseason with 13 points off of four goals and nine assists while Corey Perry has three markers and seven helpers for 10 points and Patrick Maroon has lit the lamp twice and added five assists for seven points.
The Kings look to take a 3-2 series lead back home with them while the Ducks hope the 3-2 lead swings in their favor and to become the first team to win at home in this series when the puck drops at the Honda Center tonight in Anaheim for Game 5 of their Round 2 series as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
