Daniel Bryan Neck Injury: Surgery Announced on Monday Night Raw; YES Movement Over For Good? [VIDEO]

On WWE Monday Night Raw 5/12/14, Daniel Bryan made a shocking announcement to the live crowd that he will have to undergo neck surgery this Thursday. Bryan just won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30 on April 6, 2014, was married to Brie Bella the following Friday and then suffered the death of both his father and his friend Connor "The Crusher" Michalek just days later.

The neck injury is the latest bit of bad news for Bryan in what has been a real crazy month for the leader of the YES! Movement. However, Bryan told the live crowd that while undergoing neck surgery could cut short his pro wrestling career and force him to retire, he remained defiant and said that he will come back to WWE when he is recovered.

Kurt Angle Suffers Major Injury; Could Angle Retire from Wrestling or Return to WWE?

There is no timetable for Daniel Bryan's return to WWE and the neck surgery is slated for this Thursday. However, while Bryan was written off TV yesterday on Raw first by his announcement and then by an injury angle at the hands of Kane, he was not yet stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

CB's Analysis: As much as this is a crushing blow to fans of Daniel Bryan, it must be doubly devastating to the man himself. Bryan worked extremely hard to get to the top of the WWE ladder and even after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30, there were backstage rumblings that some officials were waiting for his popularity to die down so they could move on to the next title program.

It would really be a shame if this neck injury does put an end to Daniel Bryan's wrestling career, but I would rather have Bryan retire than come back and risk even more debilitating long-term damage to his body.

At the end of the day, the decision to retire or come back will be Bryan's alone to make, and I will support him either way.
