Tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET, the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings hit the ice at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Game 6 of their Round 2 best-of-seven series as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The game can be live streamed for free here. Anaheim fans can hear all of the action on KLAA 830 while Los Angeles fans can do the same on Fox Sports 570.
Anaheim looks to win the series on the road and advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2007 while Los Angeles looks to pick up its first win on home ice in this series and to force a Game 7 back in Anaheim.
The Kings took the first two games on the road before Anaheim stormed back, beating the Kings in the other two games of this series contested at Staples Center in Games 3 and 4 and then becoming the first team to win at home this series in Game 5.
The Ducks are excited for the chance to put the series away but are also taking a cautious approach after seeing the Kings have their backs against the wall in a 3-0 Round 1 deficit against the San Jose Sharks only to storm back from the brink of elimination and rattle off four straight victories to win the series.
"This whole process, it's slow. It's long," captain Ryan Getzlaf said per NHL.com. "We're playing against a good hockey team that is never really out of it. When you're going through these things, you go win by win and you try and get to that fourth one as quick as you can."
Getzlaf is the Ducks playoff leader in points and is tied for second in the postseason in points (14) and is solely in second place in assists (10) while adding four goals. Corey Perry is second on the Ducks with seven points off of three tallies and four helpers and Patrick Maroon has lit the lamp twice and added five assists to rank third on the team in points.
The Kings have overcome a lot of adversity in the past and they'll have to do so again by notching two straight wins if they want to reach the Western Conference Finals for a third consecutive season.
"I'd rather be playing a Game 6 in May than be playing Game 82 on the 15th of April and saying, 'Oh, I can't wait to watch the playoffs,'" coach Daryl Sutter said via NHL.com. "[The] teams are close, and as a coach, you go in expecting to win every game. If you don't, you shouldn't be in this league."
Anze Kopitar has paced the Kings and the entire playoffs with 16 points while his 12 assists rank first in the postseason and he has added four goals. Marian Gaborik is second on the Kings in points (12) and first in the entire playoffs in goals (8) while adding four helpers. Gaborik has five goals in as many games. Jeff Carter has found the back of the net three times and added six assists for nine points to rank third on the team.
In net, Los Angeles turns to Jonathan Quick to man the crease, and he is 6-6 this postseason with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. Anaheim counters with rookie John Gibson between the pipes after he has gone 2-0 in the playoffs with a 1.50 GAA and a .957 save percentage.
The Ducks look to advance to the next round while the Kings look to stave off elimination on home ice and force a Game 7 when the puck drops on these Southern California rivals for Game 6 of their Round 2 series as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
