The New York Daily News is reporting Solange Knowles' attack on Roc Nation Sports founder Jay Z may have been fueled by her belief the former Brooklyn Nets minority owner was spending more time that night hanging out with fashion designer Rachel Roy than wife and older sister Beyonce.
Video footage from the Standard Hotel surfaced this week showing Knowles attacking the hip hop icon as they rode down an elevator together on the night of May 5 while leaving a Met Gala in NYC's meatpacking district. Several media outlets have reported, with Beyonce looking on, Knowles struck Jay at least three times and repeatedly tried to kick him.

According to the Daily News, the 27-year-old singer grew angrier as the night went on, at one point screaming at Roy "to keep her distance." Reports are Knowles also became angrier upon learning Jay planned to attend Rihanna's after party without his wife.
"Why can't you go home," the Daily News reports Knowles snapped at Jay, prompting him to tell her "she was out of line." Knowles reportedly then turned to Beyonce and inquired "why does your husband need to go to the club right now?"

Moments later, the trio made their way to the elevator, where Knowles quickly launched into her tirade and had to be restrained by security.
"Rachel is a little too close to Jay Z," a source told the Daily News, of the ex-wife of former partner Damon Dash. "Solange doesn't like it, and Beyoncé doesn't like it."
