Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy has been ordered to attend three Alcoholic Anonymous meetings a week and not to contact his 24-year-old girlfriend after being released from Mecklenburg County jail on domestic abuse charges.
Hardy was released from custody on Wednesday after posting $15,000 bond for assault and an additional $2,000 for making threats to the woman, which allegedly included the taunt that he would kill her.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Nicole Holder told police the 6-foot-4, 290 lb. Pro Bowler slammed her into a bathtub and threw her on a couch "covered in assault weapons and/or shotguns" at the height of their early Tuesday morning dispute.
A waitress at an area restaurant, Holder also told investigators the 25-year-old Hardy bragged that "all the assault weapons were loaded" and "threatened to shoot me if I went to the media or reported his assault to anyone."

The Observer adds Hardy's gun collection included 25-30 firearms and the couple appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the brawl, which came after Hardy had hosted a party at his home.
Though Holder required hospital emergency room treatment for injuries her attorney described as "from head to toe," Hardy, known by teammates as "The Kraken," told police the woman attacked him first with a high-heel shoe and he was the one who actually called police when she wouldn't leave. Hardy's next court date is scheduled for June 27.
One of the strongest in the league, Hardy anchored the Panther defense last season, finishing with 15 tackles and 59 total tackles in being named second-team All Pro.
"We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate," the team said in a statement.
