Canelo Alvarez Next Fight: Austin Trout Predicts Big Trouble, Erislandy Lara Victory? [VIDEO]

Canelo Alvarez has a tough fight set up for July 12 vs. Erislandy Lara, and although some around him are looking forward to a potential Manny Pacquiao clash, a common opponent shared by Canelo and Lara has a surprising prediction.

Canelo's trainer promises KO of Lara

Austin Trout, who has lost to both men and also been knocked down by both, predicts Canelo's power will be blunted by Lara's quickness and skill. "I got Lara winning. I don't think he'll knock him out but I think he's going to dominate. He's gonna outbox the s**t out of him in my opinion. Whether they give it to him, that's the question," Trout said.

Canelo's fight with Trout was much more difficult than Lara's, and coupled with Canelo's sound defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. it might appear slick defensive-minded fighters give Alvarez fits. According to Trout, that's exactly what he's in for vs. Lara.

Alvarez focused on Lara, not thinking about Manny Pacquiao?

"Yeah, I don't know, I think Mayweather may have been a little more exciting. He's starting to press the action and Lara won't have to, ever, I don't think," Trout said. "Lara is very tricky. He's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve. You can never get a read on him, because as soon as you do, he does something else. I want a rematch though."

Even Alvarez has admitted Lara presents a high degree of difficulty for him, revealing recently that his advisers warned him to pass on the Cuban. "Well they did not want me to take this fight because he has a very difficult style. He is a very defensive fighter," Canelo said.

"They understand that a fighter like Angulo is a much better style for me because he comes forward too and is ready to clash in the ring, but I wanted to fight Lara." Alvarez has ignored common wisdom before, when he decided to fight Trout. He had a tough time there as well, but emerged a winner.
