Love Shack? Ryne Sandberg Endorses Shake Shack After Food Poisoning Claim [VIDEO]

Suddenly, Philadelphia Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg is singing, "Love Shack," but it has more to do with the hamburger joint than the new wave group, the B-52s.

ESPN reported Tuesday that Sandberg has reached an accord with the Shake Shack burger stand at Citi Field, six days after he threw the place under the bus for food poisoning that he said made him lose six pounds in two days.

Shake Shack released a photo of the thinner Sandberg on its Twitter account on Tuesday in a Shake Shack T-shirt, with the quote, "Safe!" attributed to him.

Both Sandberg and New York Mets first baseman Lucas Duda came down with food poisoning over Mother's Day weekend at Citi Field, both claiming to have eaten a bad hamburger at Shake Shack. "A couple of coaches took a bite and didn't like what they saw and threw the rest away," Sandberg said, according to ESPN in describing his six-pound loss. "I was in a rush so I ended up putting it away. "I had one piece of toast in two days, and I'm feeling fine about that. I don't want anything in my stomach." Duda had to go to the hospital on May 9, blaming an undercooked hamburger. He said the burger came from Shake Shack, but a Mets spokesman insisted to ESPN that Duda had gone to another Shake Shack located outside Citi Field. After both incidents, a Shake Shack representative issued a statement. "We've served thousands of guests at our Citi Field Shack over the past week, and this is the first we've heard of any issue whatsoever," said Greg Waters, senior manager for marketing and communications with Shake Shack. "We take every guest concern of any sort seriously and as such reached out to Ryne Sandberg to get more information since we have not heard from him. We stand by our food quality 100 percent."

After missing the May 9 game, Duda, too, changed his tune about Shake Shack on Tuesday.

ESPN reported that the sudden urges by both Sandberg and Duda to promote Shake Shack were unknown, "but you can use your imagination."

Why do you think Ryne Sandberg and Lucas Duda suddenly decided to promote Shake Shack a week after claiming illness from the hamburger stand?
