Derek Fisher to Knicks Rumors: Kevin Durant Sees 'Great Fit' in New York [VIDEO]

League MVP Kevin Durant is convinced Derek Fisher would be a great fit as the first New York Knicks coach of the Phil Jackson era.

The Oklahoma City Thunder veteran guard is rumored to be the Knicks president of basketball operations' top candidate to replace Mike Woodson, with reports now circulating that Jackson has more or less put off his search until he can speak with Fisher after the Thunder's season has ended.

Kevin Durant better without Russell Westbrook?

"Without a doubt," Durant told the New York Post when asked if he felt Fisher would be up to the task. "He's a smart guy, smart mind. He's a great motivator, great speaker and can really relate to a lot of guys and demands that respect from everybody. He's a great locker-room guy. I'm sure he'll do a great job.''

Going into the year, Fisher indicated this season would be his last and even with the Thunder now just four victories away from playing for what would be his sixth NBA title, the veteran guard doesn't appear to be wavering in his thinking.

Kevin Durant signs with Roc Nation

"That's how I felt in training camp," he told The Post. "I didn't sign a contract to retire and etch it in stone. But that's how I feel. That's still how I feel. My mind hasn't really changed.''

The Knicks are also rumored to be considering speaking with native son Mark Jackson and former Phil Jackson disciples Luke Walton and Kurt Rambis.
