Derek Fisher Coaching Rumors: Phil Jackson Prefers Brian Shaw For Knicks Coach Job? [VIDEO]

Phil Jackson may again be craving a coach he and the New York Knicks may find it difficult to land.

The New York Post is reporting Jackson wants to land Brian Shaw as Knicks coach, even though the current Denver Nuggets coach insists he has no intentions of leaving. Jackson infamously lost out on prodigy Steve Kerr earlier this month, when after months of being publicly courted the TNT analyst instead elected to take the Golden State Warriors coaching gig.

Can Phil Jackson keep Carmelo Anthony in the fold?

Now The Post adds Jackson clearly favors Shaw over Derek Fisher, another rumored favorite, and at some point may even be open to awarding the Nuggets compensation for the right to strike a deal with Shaw, who served several seasons as an assistant under the Zen Master while both were with the Lakers.

"I'm happy where I am," Shaw recently told The Post. "I have a job here, so all the speculation that's out there, that's just speculation."

Knicks to taget LeBron James?

Shaw's first season in Denver wasn't without incident. Around midseason, he and veteran guard Andre Miller publicly feuded over playing time, leading to Miller first being suspended and later released.

If the 68-year-old Jackson is unable to strike a deal with either Shaw or Fisher, rumors are he will again to turn to a list that includes the likes of other one-time assistants Kurt Rambis, Jim Cleamons.

Another dark horse candidate could be 37-year-old L.A. Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, who over the course of his near two decades long NBA career has either played with or coach with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
