Urlacher Talks With Vikings About Possible Contract: Report

Free Agent linebacker Brian Urlacher reportedly talked with the Minnesota Vikings about a possible contract according to the Chicago Tribune. A Vikings source confirmed the talks between the two sides, but said the team was "monitoring" the situation and still believed Urlacher would return to original team, the Chicago Bears.

The Vikings are expected to lose starting linebacker Jasper Brinkley, who visited the Giants on Wendesday and will meet with the Cardinals on Thursday. Both teams have also expressed interest in Urlacher.

The Bears still haven't responded to the two-year contract proposal Urlacher's representatives gave the team last week. Chicago allowed the former all-pro to test the free agent market, presumably to let him realize his value after 13 seasons with the Bears.

"We have approached him about coming back,'' Bears general manager Phil Emery said of Urlacher. "As far as working it out, that is ongoing."

A source told the Tribune that Urlacher is looking for a deal within the range of $5.5 million, similar to what Ray Lewis earned in his last season with the Ravens.
