Former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy returns to action June 21 [NBCSN at 8 p.m. ET] to face rising prospect Sullivan Berrera at Mohegan Sun-Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The 37-year-old Lacy (26-4-0, 18 knockouts) enters the ring for just the second time in three-plus years. In his most recent outing, on Nov. 30, Lacy defeated Martin Verdin by third-round TKO.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Main Events again and this match-up with Barrera really excites me," Lacy said. "I am happy to return back to the ring after so many of the fights that I've had that were scheduled only to fall apart."
Barrera, 32, improved his pro mark to 11-0 on April 4 with a six-round unanimous decision over Larry Pryor. Though Lacy will have a significant edge in experience, Barrera isn't worried. He believes his camp has a plan to erase that disadvantage.
"My game plan hasn't changed. I have seen Lacy fight before and, even though he was inactive for a while, he is still a fighter and when he gets in the ring he is going to try to win. We have a game plan put together and I am ready to fight."
The eight-round affair is part a card featuring an IBF light heavyweight showdown between Anatoliy Dudchenko and Nadiib Mohammedi. The winner will become the IBF's No. 1 contender.
Anatoliy (19-2-0, 13 KOs) is currently ranked third by the IBF. He has won 16 fights in a row.
Mohammedi (34-3-0, 20 KOs) is riding a 10-fight win streak. The IBF has him as its No. 4 contender.
Bernard Hopkins is the current IBF 175-pound titleholder.
