NBA Finals 2014: Dwyane Wade Flopping Fine Costs Heat Guard $5K; 'It Was A Late Call By The Ref' [VIDEO]

As the NBA Finals rage on, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been fined $5,000 by the NBA for flopping during Miami's 98-96 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 Sunday night that evened the best-of-seven series up at 1-1.

The NBA laid down the fine after Wade over exaggerated a foul during Game 2 of the finals after being swiped at by Manu Ginobili.

"He took a swipe and he hit me," Wade told reporters Monday, before the fine was revealed after the league reviewed the play. "It was a late call by the ref, but he called it."

Wade drew the foul from Ginobili with 4:09 remaining in the second quarter Sunday night when Ginobili swatted at the ball and caught Wade, who then drained two shots from the free-throw line. The Heat ended up winning by two points.

The league handed down the punishment to Wade on Monday, marking the fifth time this postseason that a levy was issued for flopping.

"I saw Manu coming out of the corner of my eye to try to steal it so my only thing was to make sure that he didn't steal it," Wade explained to reporters. "He swiped and he wound up hitting me and the ref called a foul. We move on."

Wade, who makes almost $19 million in this season alone, likely won't be sweating the $5,000 fine the league has put on him as the NBA continues to crack down on flopping, especially in the playoffs.

Wade is averaging 18.4 points per game, 4.1 assists per game and 4.0 rebounds per game throughout the playoffs.

The Heat, in their fourth straight NBA Finals, continue the search for their third consecutive NBA crown when the series shifts to Miami with Game 3 Tuesday night at the American Airlines Arena.
