Andy Murray Coach: Marinko Matosevic Rips Amelie Mauresmo Choice, Bashes Women's Tennis [VIDEO]

Andy Murray shook the tennis world when he chose Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo to replace Ivan Lendl as his new coach. The decision was met with praise by some, but others, like Marinko Matosevic, weren’t too keen on the choice.

Matosevic has some choice words for Murray for choosing a woman to be his coach and commented on the situation as well as the woman’s game as a whole.

“For me, I couldn't do it since I don't think that highly of the women's game,” said Matosevic,

“His mum coached him and she did a great job with him, so we'll see what happens.

“It's all equal rights these days. Got to be politically correct. So, yeah, someone's got to give it a go. Won't be me.”

Matosevic is the first male tennis player to speak badly of Murray’s decision to work with Mauresmo and, pending the media backlash, he could be the last. The 28-year-old Matosevic has been on his game lately and even won his first Grand Slam match when he topped Dustin Brown at the French Open.

Mauresmo is a former world number one and Wimbledon champion, but now she will be coaching one of the more high-profile players in tennis. Mauresmo met with Murray before the first round of the Queen’s Club tournament and will watch him to get a first assessment.
