Oscar Pistorius Murder Trial: Reeva Steenkamp Was To Give Talk About Domestic Violence on Day She Died [VIDEO]

Oscar's Pistorius' girlfriend was scheduled to speak to a group of teenage girls at a school about domestic abuse just hours after he shot her four times through a locked bathroom door in their home.

Doctors know whether Oscar Pistorius has general anxiety disorder

CBSNews.com reported that Reeva Steenkamp had written notes for a presentation to the girls that she titled "Placing Values on You." She wanted to tell the girls about how she overcame difficulties in her life to become a model by reminding herself about her value to the world.

The 29-year-old Steenkamp was ready for a Valentine's Day speech in which she would tell the kids that she put herself through college, studying law.

"I broke my back towards the end of varsity," Steenkamp wrote in her notes, according to CBSNews.com. "Learnt mobility again and made a massive life decision with regards to my career. ... I was in an abusive relationship at the same time and all together these factors encouraged my move to (Johannesburg). ... It took some serious soul-searching to remind myself of my value in this world."

Oscar Pistorius' family doesn't proclaim his innocence as his trial begins

According to CBSNews.com, South Africa has one of the highest rates of violence for a country not engaged in war and is the worst in the world in regards to crimes against women. It cited recent statistics about the country that indicated that every four minutes, a woman is reported to have been raped and that a woman is killed by her male partner every eight hours.

The statistic against the women has taken on a name of its own in South Africa: "Intimate femicide."

CBSNews.com reported that South African women have a greater animosity toward Pistorius than men.

Pistorius' murder trial currently is on hold as he finishes his third week of a medical evaluation for the possibility that he suffers from general anxiety disorder. A doctor testifying for the defense said the anxiety disorder caused his judgment to become impaired on the night he shot Steenkamp, thinking his life was in grave danger because of the possibility of a burglar entering his home.

He still has another week of evaluation, although it has been reported that doctors already should have a determination of whether he does have general anxiety disorder and where the trial goes if he is found to have the disorder.

That Steenkamp never was able to speak to the school girls just adds another sad twist to a sad story, regardless of the verdict.
