Arizona Wildcats News: Tyler Dorsey Decommits from Arizona [VIDEO]

Five-star guard prospect Tyler Dorsey has withdrawn his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats, confirming rumors that had become widespread in the past few weeks.

In an e-mailed statement, Dorsey said that five months after accepting a scholarship offer from the University of Arizona, he "learned a lot about that decision as well as the importance, pressure and scrutiny of making such a major educational and career choice."

He said he rushed his choice of college and did not give himself the best opportunity to "explore and thoroughly investigate" all his possible college options. He added that he felt that he needed to experience the recruiting process so he can make the best choice for his future.

"I believe that I am entitled to make sure that my ultimate college choice will provide me with the best possible experience and opportunity to maximize my potential as a player, student and person," his statement added.

Dorsey is a six-foot-four point guard from St. John Bosco in California who committed to joining the Wildcats at the start of the year. But his decision may have been influenced by commitments that the Wildcats took from other prospects like Justin Simon.

As SBNation.com reports, Simon almost has the same height (6'5) and plays the same position as Dorsey. However, Simon has a fantastic 6'11 wingspan. The Wildcats are also pursuing two five-star talents in Isaiah Briscoe and Allonzo Trier, and Dorsey may have felt that he was the odd man out despite being the first to commit.
