Jameis Winston NFL Draft: Father Says Winston Will Stay at Florida State Until He Graduates [VIDEO]

Florida State quarterback and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston will be eligible for the 2015 NFL Draft.

His father says not to expect Winston to declare next year.

Antonor Winston has told AL.com that the family has decided that Jameis will play three seasons for the Seminoles, which would make him enter the draft in 2016 - in either football or baseball.

"We want Jameis to succeed with one more year in baseball and two more years in football," Antonor said. "We've never strayed from our plan that he is going to be in college until he gets that degree."

Antonor Winston said he expects Jameis to graduate in December, 2015. The father told AL.com that the Seminoles' two-sport star is seeking an engineering degree in the biomedical or mechanical field. Jameis Winston switched his major from pre-med, his father said.

Is Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher giving James Winston a free pass?

Winston had a childhood dream of becoming a podiatrist, his father told AL.com.

Winston has made as much news off the field of play as he has on the field. Last year, he was the target of a sexual assault allegation that ended up not resulting in charges. Earlier in the spring, Winston was cited for shoplifting after walking out of a Publix grocery store in Tallahassee, Fla., with $32 worth of seafood without paying.

He was suspended from the Florida State baseball team four days and was reinstated after serving 20 hours of community service. Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher said he would not punish Winston any further.

Despite those issues - and an ugly incident involving the mother of former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron in which she criticized Winston for his syntax and grammar after the Seminoles' BCS championship game victory over Auburn - Winston has been an exemplary student at Florida State.

AL.com earlier this month reported that Winston posted a video of several academic awards he received in high school with a voiceover that said:

"... that believe that I am dumb, let me please reiterate the academic wall, where I have made straight A's and I am continuing my success at Florida State, which I hold I a 3.4 GPA. Thank you. Have a nice day."

Indeed, Winston made the ACC Academic All-Conference football team in 2013. Players must maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average to qualify.
