Tampa Bay Rays Rumors: Rays Seeking Trade Partners for David Price; Angels, Blue Jays, A's All Contenders for Tampa Bay Ace [VIDEO]

The Tampa Bay Rays have been rumored to be looking for potential trade partners for ace David Price, but who is in the running for the Rays’ star? Plenty of teams could use Price's services but the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays have emerged as favorites.

ESPN’s Jim Bowden believes that five teams are in the running for Price, but did say that he could see a unpredictable team like the Oakland A’s stealing the All-Star away.

"The Rays could get a large package for Price -- as many as four or five prospects -- but it's more likely they'll shoot for quality over quantity and end up with a two-for-one or three-for-one deal, with the possibility of more players being thrown in by either side. For the purpose of this exercise, I'll try to find the best two-for-one or three-for-one deals that could be offered for Price."

Bowden believes that the Angels are the favorites to land Price and could offer the best possible two-for-one trade out of any of the teams interested. The Angeles would offer up C.J. Cron and Alex Yarbrough to the Rays as they have been interested in both. Cron would provide a potential 30 home run guy for the middle of the lineup and Yarbrough would be the long term answer at second base after Ben Zoberist leaves the team.

The Blue Jays are the second team that Bowden can see making the move on Price. They move a few of their top prospects in Aaron Sanchez and Alberto Tirado to the Rays and they add Price to their already above average rotation. The Blue Jays have the one thing the Rays want and that is a potential No. 1 starting pitcher in Sanchez. The Rays will sacrifice their sure fire ace for a younger one with potential to be great. If the Jays want to take advantage of the down year in the American League East they need to put another large arm at the top of the rotation.
