David Blatt to Cavaliers: Tel Aviv Coach Will Lead Cleveland Rebuild [VIDEO]

David Blatt has been offered the Cleveland Cavaliers coaching job and the two sides are now rumored to be negotiating the terms of a deal, according to ESPN.com.

The website added the longtime European coach has spent the last two days meeting with team owner Dan Gilbert and other front office executives and was formally offered the post sometime Thursday night.

ESPN reported the 55-year-old Blatt has more than 20 years of international coaching experience, including stops in Israel, Greece, Russia and Turkey. Blatt led Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Euroleague title in 2012 and last summer guided the Russian Olympic team to a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in London.

Blatt, who reportedly beat out Clipper assistant Tyronn Lue for the job, was also a candidate to join rookie coach Steve Kerr's staff as a lead assistant in Golden State.

The Cavs fired coach Mike Brown after just one season amid reports of locker room strike and feuding players, including rumors star guards Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters once engaged in a fist fight.

During their search, the Cavs were also rumored to have met with Mark Price, Vinny Del Negro, Adrian Griffin and Lionel Hollins.

After selecting Anthony Bennett with the top pick in last year's draft, the Cavs again have the top selection this season are expected to choose from a field of Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, Dante Exum and Aaron Gordon.
