Jozy Altidore Injury Update: No Timetable for Return of Injured U.S. Forward [VIDEO]

U.S. forward Jozy Altidore does not know when he can return from a hamstring injury he sustained during the team's 2-1 win over Ghana, even as the team prepares to face dangerous Portugal which may also miss its star Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday.

Altidore bared this as he appeared on ABC's 'Good Morning America.' The 23-year old said as quoted by ESPN: "I'm not really setting any timetable [to return]. I'm just focused on getting myself right and being the best cheerleader for the team. I think we have a lot of good players who are going to step in right away and do a great job for us. For myself, it's just staying mentally prepared and doing the best I can to get on the field as soon as possible."

Altidore added about his condition: "I'm all right. I'm a little bit sore but a lot better than I was Monday. It's one of those [injuries] where I knew I couldn't continue as soon as I felt the muscle. So it was a little bit unlucky, but we have guys that are going to step in and do a great job for us on Sunday."

As of Friday, there is no word yet on who U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann will tap to replace Altidore on the U.S. line-up, according to forward Aron Johannsson. Altidore was replaced by Johannsson when he was injured in the 21st minute against Ghana. Another striker, Chris Wondolowski, may join team captain Clint Dempsey in the attack.
