Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Pirates (37-38) and Tampa Bay Rays (31-46) open up a three-game set live from Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay. The game can be live streamed for free here. Pittsburgh fans can hear all of the action on KDKA 93.7 while Tampa Bay fans can do the same on WDAE 620.
Pittsburgh continues a six-game road trip after taking two out of three from the Chicago Cubs over the weekend while Tampa Bay continues a 10-game homestand that it is currently 4-3 on. The Rays have won seven of their last 11 games.
The Pirates are looking to get back to .500 and sit nine games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central while the Rays enter play with the MLB's worst record and trail the American League East-leading Toronto Blue Jays by 11 games.
Edinson Volquez (4-6, 4.67 ERA) toes the rubber for the Pirates while the Rays turn to Alex Cobb, who is 2-5 with a 3.48 ERA.
While this game is in Tampa Bay, Cobb seems as though he wishes it was in Pittsburgh so that he could hit.
"If I'm gonna face an NL team, I'd rather do it in an NL park," Cobb told MLB.com. "If I have to do it, I might as well get something for me."
Volquez, meanwhile, is looking to erase the memories of his last outing where he lasted just 2.1 innings and allowed eight runs.
Pirates rookie outfielder Gregory Polanco had his 11-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-3 performance Sunday.
"Some young players are out for stardom; he isn't -- he's out to be a master craftsman," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said per MLB.com. "Completely different. So I don't think he gets overwhelmed with the hype -- he has a grasp that it'll go the other way as soon as the game goes the other way."
Pittsburgh outfielder Andrew McCutchen is hitting .312 and leads the team with 11 homers (tied) and 43 RBI while ranking first in the NL in walks (52), second in on-base percentage (.421) and third in OPS (.944).Starling Marte is expected back after leaving the team to deal with a personal matter, and he's fifth in the NL with 17 stolen bases.
Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria is hitting .268 and leads the team with nine homers while adding 34 RBI and first baseman James Loney is hitting .280 with three homers and a team-best 36 RBI.
