Lakers: World Peace Has Torn Ligament, Latest Of Injury Woes For Struggling Team

The Los Angeles Lakers' injury woes continued on Tuesday with starting forward Metta World Peace receiving an MRI exam in Minneapolis on his left knee that showed a lateral meniscus tear, according to ESPNLa.com. World Peace will return to Los Angeles to be examined Wednesday by team doctor Steve Lombardo and will be forced to miss the team's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

World Peace's status for a return still remains up in the air. An update, including a time table for his return, will be issued at the conclusion of his examination, according to the team.

"Sorry bout the injury," World Peace tweeted. "First ever knee injury. Recovery time hopefully is a week and a half. I can't wait to get back But our team is so good We will win and get into the playoffs."

World Peace has been the only member of the Lakers' season-opening lineup that has remained healthy during the entire 2012-13 season. He has played in 7- of the Lakers' 71 games, averaging 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game, and only missing one game due to a suspension.
