Darren Sharper Rape Case Update: A Third Man Facing Charges In New Orleans Rape Case? [VIDEO]

New Orleans prosecutors have obtained a search warrant allowing them to secure the DNA of a third man in connection with one of several sexual assault cases former NFL star Darren Sharper faces.

According to FoxNews.com, Brandon Licciardi, a former police sergeant, recently received a search warrant for his DNA, though, citing an ongoing investigation, his attorneys declined to provide further details.

The 38-year-old Sharper, meanwhile, remains jailed without bail in Los Angeles County on drug and rape charges.

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann told Fox Licciardi is no longer employed by the department in a law enforcement role, and instead has been transferred to an administrative position.

The website added it was Licciardi who allegedly introduced Sharper to one of the local women he is now accused of attacking. Ultimately, Sharper was taken into custody on two counts of aggravated rape by New Orleans police after one of his accusers told police she met both Sharper and similarly charged 26-year-old Eric Nunez at a bar and went back to an apartment with them where she was attacked.

A 14-year NFL veteran, the 38-year-old Sharper was named to the 2000s All-Decade team and starred on the New Orleans Saints 2010 Super Bowl-winning team.

Sharper is also being investigated in similar cases in Arizona and Las Vegas. Similar allegations made against him were recently dropped after authorities said they lacked sufficient evidence.
