Out with the basketball and in with the hockey as the first round of the DHL Draft starts Friday in Philadelphia. The Florida Panthers are on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick and all reports point to them selecting defenseman Aaron Ekblad.

Experts don’t agree on much when it comes to mock drafts and predictions, but this year the consensus is that there are five players in this draft that can contribute from day one. Ekblad, Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Leon Draisaitl and Michael Dal Colle are the players to watch in this draft and the Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders have the honor of selecting them.

There has been plenty of trade talk among the top five and teams like the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumored to be interested in moving around in the draft. With the news of Ryan Kesler being traded to the Ducks, it could be just the start of teams wheeling and dealing as they scramble to gear up for the next run at the Stanley Cup.

Friday starts the first of seven rounds in the NHL Draft, with the final six rounds continuing Saturday.
