Today at 5:10 p.m. ET, the Los Angeles Angels (45-35) and Chicago White Sox (39-44) play a doubleheader live from U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The game can be live streamed here. Los Angeles fans can hear all of the action on KLAA 830 while Chicago fans can do the same on WSCR 670.
After a rainout Monday, these two teams play a twin bill. Los Angeles continues a seven-game road trip after losing two of three to the Kansas City Royals to open it up over the weekend while Chicago looks for its fourth and fifth straight wins as it opens up a seven-game homestand.
The Angels enter play in second place in the American League West, five games behind the division-leading Oakland Athletics while the White Sox are in fourth place in the AL Central, eight games behind the first place Detroit Tigers.
Garrett Richards (8-2, 2.76 ERA) toes the rubber for Los Angeles in Game 1 while Chicago answers with Hector Noesi, who is 2-4 with a 4.18 ERA. In Game 2, Jered Weaver (8-6, 3.33 ERA) mans the mound for the Angels while the White Sox hand the ball to Scott Carroll (2-4, 4.76 ERA).
Richards has had a solid year for the Halos so far, but rather than worrying about an All-Star selection he's thinking about keeping it up in the second half.
"There's still another half of baseball to play after the All-Star Game, so that's kind of what I'm worried about," Richards told MLB.com.
You may not be able to catch him in this year's Home Run Derby unless he changes his stance on participating, but White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu belted two long balls on Friday and is tied for the MLB lead with 25 on the campaign.
"It was important to regain rhythm as a team, and we played good as a team, did some things to help out our guys," Abreu said as the White Sox went on to take three of four from the Toronto Blue Jays via MLB.com.
Abreu leads the MLB with a .625 slugging percentage, is fourth in the AL in RBI (64) and fifth in total bases (170) and OPS (.953).
Angels outfielder Mike Trout is first in the MLB with a 1.017 OPS while his .407 on-base percentage and .610 slugging percentage rank second in the AL. Trout is third in the AL in total bases (175) and tied for fourth in walks (48) and triples (five).
The White Sox and Angels play a double header this afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
