Michigan Advances To Final Four For First Time Since 1994

The Michigan Wolverines are scheduled to make their first Final Four appearance since the 1994 "Fab Five" team with their win over Florida Sunday. Michigan defeated the Gators 79-59 in a Sweet 16 rout in which the Wolverines kept the momentum for the entire game.

Michigan jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first 13 points and maintained a double-digit lead the entire rest of the game. With the loss, the SEC regular-season champion Gators' season ends in a regional final game for the third straight year.

Michigan guard Nik Stauskas was 5-for-5 on 3-pointers and 6-for-6 overall in the first half. Stauskas ended the game shooting 7-of-8 for a game-high 22 points and three assists.

All-American guard Trey Burke added 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 35 minutes of play. Mitch McGary also added 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

Michigan's last appearance in the Final Four came after consecutive national championship game appearances in 1992 and 1993, the freshman and sophomore seasons of the Fab Five -- Chris Webber, Jalen, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson and Jimmy King.
